Electricity
For Türkiye there are two associated plug types, types C and F. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and type F is the plug which has two round pins with two earth clips on the side. Türkiye operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Insurance
The Conference Organising Committee or its agents will not be responsible for any medical expenses, loss or accidents incurred during the conference. Delegates are strongly advised to arrange their own personal insurance to cover medical and other expenses including accident or loss. Where a delegate has to cancel for medical reasons, the normal cancellation policy will apply.

Money
The currency used in Türkiye is Turkish Lira. All major credit cards are widely accepted in Türkiye. The Turkish Lira has 100 kuruş as coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 & 50 kuruş and 1 TL. Turkish Lira notes come in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 TL.
Smoking
Under current legislation, smoking is banned in all public areas and work places, including restaurants, pubs and bars.
Tax
Refunds Value Added Tax (VAT) is charged at 18% on most goods. Cash back is the simplest and most widely used VAT refund service that issues cash refunds on departure for a handling fee. Ask for cash back form when you make your purchase.

Weather
The climate of Istanbul, can be defined as transitional Mediterranean, in fact, it has quite cold winters, but otherwise it has Mediterranean characteristics: the rainiest seasons are autumn and winter, and summer is hot and sunny.
The city is located in the west of Turkey, at 41 degrees north latitude, in the Bosphorus strait, which separates the Black Sea from the Sea of Marmara, and also Europe from Asia.
